A box with a lid is placed on a wooden board as a base. There are four slots in the walls of this box through which two plates can be pushed. The two plates have strings attached to the end and are used to allow the dog to pull the plates out of the slots. There are openings in the centre of the plates for inserting two rollers. There are openings in the base for two more rollers. The lower plate can be fixed with these rollers by placing the strings over the rollers. This is the most difficult part of the game. The rollers make pulling out the plates a task that can only be solved by experienced dogs. To motivate the dog to solve the task, treats should be hidden in the openings provided.
And this is how it works:
- Step 1: Place treats in the indentations on the base. Then pull the first plate through the lower slots in the box. Secure the plate with the two rollers so that the strings are pulled over the rollers.
- Step 2: Pull the second plate through the upper slots in the box so that the openings in the centre of both plates are directly above each other. Place treats in these openings and cover them with two rollers.
- Step 3: Place a treat in the centre of the top plate and close the box with the lid. Give the dog the command to play.
Only use dry dog snacks that fit the openings. Deduct the amount of snacks your dog gets when playing from his daily ration in relation to his weight.
Tip:
It is recommended to start the game with only one plate and two rollers in the centre of the plate. Otherwise your dog could lose interest if he can't solve the game after a few attempts. Let your dog watch while you hide the treats in the game, this will arouse his curiosity. You should never leave your dog alone with the game. Be patient, show him how the game works and motivate him. This will ensure that your dog enjoys playing together and completes the task correctly.
What else should be considered?
"Trouble" is made of FSC-certified wood that has been coated with a layer of transparent water-based varnish that is harmless to humans and animals. The game should be protected from moisture, otherwise the wooden parts may swell. If this does happen, we recommend putting the game to one side for a few days and allowing it to dry.
Trouble" encourages your dog's natural instincts: Curiosity and sense of smell.
The intelligence games make a significant contribution to providing your dog with a meaningful activity that promotes his intelligence. The bond between dog and owner is strengthened and many behavioural problems can be eliminated.
