Correctly estimating energy requirements is often a complicated task for many owners. Excessive energy intake via too much concentrated feed or fresh grass can have fatal consequences for horses, especially those with unsuitable living conditions. Too little exercise and prolonged overeating impair the proper functioning of the carbohydrate metabolism.

For overweight horses with metabolic disorders, a diet low in grain and therefore low in carbohydrates is recommended. However, the need for specific minerals and functional nutrients cannot be adequately met with a pure hay and straw diet.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE

(e.g. in combination with Equigard or pure feed ration)

For acute metabolic problems: approx. 50 g per 100 kg body weight per day; add water if necessary and administer with an oral syringe.

For metabolic and hoof support, especially in critical weather and grazing conditions: approx. 18-20 g per 100 kg body weight per day until the desired weight is reached or permanently if insulin function is impaired.
