CDS - Chlorine dioxide drinking water treatment <0.3%

Other names: CDS, CDL, Chlorine Dioxide Solution, chlorine dioxide solution, ClO2, chlorine (IV) oxide

CDL drops: ready-to-use chlorine dioxide solution for germ-free drinking water

CDL is by far the best means of treating water. What does CDS / CDL stand for and how does it differ from chlorine dioxide made from two components? The abbreviation stands for Chlorine Dioxide Solution, known to most people in connection with the developer Andreas Ludwig Kalcker. The difference between CDS / CDL and the 2-component solution is the purity. In CDS, the pure ClO2 gas is dissolved in water, whereas the 2-component solution also introduces salts into the water to be treated. The substance is suitable for disinfection and drinking water treatment and thus for maintaining our health. Anyone familiar with CDL drops will appreciate their special effect. We use a state-of-the-art electrolytic process for phase separation to produce our ultra-pure chlorine dioxide solution. CDS from Heilkraft comes in a medical amber glass bottle with a PE-HD lid incl. Teflon seal and 2ml dosing pipette with scale as well as a measuring cup for safe water treatment.

Chlorine dioxide solution Application: The effective germ killer

CDL is highly valued for its antimicrobial effect and has long been recognised as a highly effective water treatment agent. It is suitable for fast, intensive and side-effect-free disinfection and destroys pathogens such as pathogenic bacteria (including legionella), viruses, fungi, mites and biofilms. Chlorine dioxide solution is used for drinking water fountains, tanks in boats or caravans, dispensing systems, whirlpools and pipes and lines. Due to its safety, it is also used in the Federal Chancellery, where it comes directly from the tap. It is also used in the food industry to clean fruit and vegetables and to disinfect meat and poultry.

    Chlorine dioxide: Gas or liquid?

Chlorine dioxide consists of one chlorine atom and two oxygen atoms and has the molecular formula ClO2. Although the name of the gaseous compound contains "chlorine", chlorine dioxide is a completely different substance and has a different chemical behaviour to chlorine. In contrast to chlorine, which utilises the effect of chlorination, chlorine dioxide acts through an oxidation process due to the bound oxygen. A single atom is sufficient to fundamentally change the properties. In its normal aggregate state, CD is a brown to amber-coloured, chlorine-smelling gas that is produced when sodium chlorite and, for example, hydrochloric acid are brought together. When activated, the sodium chlorite releases the actual active ingredient chlorine dioxide. If the unstable chlorine dioxide gas is combined with water, a chlorine dioxide solution (CDS/CDL) is produced - a highly effective preparation with many possible applications.

Note: Sodium chlorite (NaClO2) has nothing to do with sodium chloride (NaCl), i.e. ordinary table salt.

CDL drops <0.3%: Chlorine dioxide ready-mix

As chlorine dioxide is unstable in nature, it is buffered in an aqueous solution for stabilisation. The chlorine dioxide gas is bound to water by distillation and becomes an aqueous solution with a high degree of purity. The new product from Heilkraft is therefore an already activated, ready-to-use liquid. Our CDS is produced fresh every day and therefore has a very high concentration, which is not the case with many low-cost suppliers, where the CDS sometimes sits on the shelf for weeks or even months.

Differences between chlorine dioxide solution and chlorine dioxide

As Heilkraft offers both the chlorine dioxide as a two-component set and the ready-to-use chlorine dioxide solution, we list the differences between the two products here.

    Chlorine dioxide (2-component)

Chlorine dioxide solution (CDS / CDL)

2 components that need to be activated.

Ready-to-use solution, can be used immediately.

Can be freshly activated in small quantities.

Must be used quickly, otherwise loss of effectiveness.

    Store at room temperature.

Must be stored in the refrigerator.

Contains chlorine dioxide and other salts.

Highly pure, only water and ClO2.

    How does chlorine dioxide work?

The effect of chlorine dioxide is based on its oxidising power. As a strong oxidising agent, it removes electrons from pathogenic germs and thus destroys their biochemical structure. In addition, the oxygen (O) released from chlorine dioxide destroys the membranes of anaerobic microorganisms and damages their RNA (ribonucleic acid), i.e. a component of their genetic information. There is no pathogen in the world that is resistant to chlorine dioxide. In addition to germs, chlorine dioxide also destroys toxins and oxidises heavy metals and pesticides such as glyphosate.

Chlorine dioxide solution at a glance

    • Easy handling
    • Precise dosing: pipette & measuring cup included
    • Ready-to-use solution: no activation required
    • Effective against bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, parasites and biofilms

    Conclusion

Chlorine dioxide solution is a highly effective water treatment agent that is also suitable for other common applications. As a ready-to-use mixture, our CDL can be used immediately without prior activation and is a powerful helper against pathogens.
