Heilkraft Artemisia Annua 99,9% DMSO Auszug
Artemisia annua - a plant with an international reputation
Hardly any other plant has attracted as much international attention as Artemisia annua - known in this country as annual mugwort. This outwardly inconspicuous herb owes its fame to the discovery of an important substance inside it: Artemisinin. The terpene, which is found in the leaves and flowers of the aster-like plant, was isolated in 1969 by the Chinese pharmacologist Tu Youyou and used in the fight against malaria during the Vietnam War. More than 40 years later, in 2015, the scientist was awarded the Nobel Prize for her health-promoting research findings. The award brought Artemisia annua, or rather its main active ingredient artemisinin, worldwide attention and put its successful fight against the multi-resistant strains of Plasmodium falciparum, the malaria pathogen, in the spotlight. Artemisinin has since been patented and is considered one of the most effective malaria drugs ever.
In use in China for 2000 years
But annual mugwort can do much more than "just" fight malaria. In traditional Chinese medicine, the plant has been known for over 2000 years and is mainly used to strengthen the immune system. The Chinese use artemisia for fever, infections and inflammation, but also for food intolerances, digestive problems and worm infestations.
Contains hundreds of active ingredients
In addition to the secondary plant substance from the terpene group - the world-famous artemisinin - 245 different active ingredients have been isolated and identified from the aromatic plant to date. However, experts estimate that there are over 600 biologically active ingredients. Essential oils such as eucalyptus oil and menthol, alpha and beta-pinene, camphor, limonene, flavonoids and essential fatty acids are all relevant to health.
Artemisia preparation with DMSO
In contrast to Artemisia annua as an alcoholic extract, in which the freshly harvested plant is preserved in alcohol, the variant with DMSO is alcohol-free. DMSO stands for dimethyl sulphoxide - a natural sulphur compound from the sulphoxide group. Our Artemisia plant extract contains 99.9% DMSO Ph. Eur., which further enhances its power. The abbreviation Ph. Eur. stands for Pharmakopoea Europaea (European Pharmacopoeia) and indicates pharmaceutical purity. The elixir made from annual mugwort is ideal as a flavouring additive and for other uses. For easy and perfect dosing, we recommend our 1.8 ml dropper pipette.
