If the vet diagnoses diseases such as laminitis, PSSM, tying-up or Cushing's disease, special feeding is required. The causes of such diseases are metabolic blockages of varying degrees. To a large extent, these are due to an oversupply of carbohydrates from cereals such as oats, barley, maize or spelt and the associated obesity of affected horses. Carbohydrates are also generally the cause of such diseases during the grazing period. Contrary to the still widespread view that too much protein is the cause of laminitis in the grazing season, fructans, which belong to the carbohydrate fraction, are among the triggers. In order to prevent and rehabilitate the aforementioned diseases or their consequences, experts recommend a feed with the lowest possible starch and sugar content in addition to sufficient daily exercise. Rice bran is also characterised by a low but high-quality protein content, which is supplemented by many essential amino acids in ReVital Cubes.
