Instructions for feeding kittens
Kittens usually nibble on solid food at 3 to 4 weeks of age. Keep moist Pro Plan available for these kittens at all times. After weaning, at 6 to 8 weeks of age, kittens will usually eat dry or moist food at will. If water is added, use no more than one part warm (not hot) liquid to three parts Pro Plan and change frequently to ensure freshness. As kittens approach adulthood, their calorie requirements may decrease. Continue to adjust the amount of food to ensure your kitten's optimal body condition and avoid excessive weight gain.
Feeding for reproduction
Pro Plan provides all the nutrients needed during reproduction. It is not necessary to add extra vitamins or minerals. Food intake may vary during pregnancy. Feed the amount required to maintain an ideal body condition of the pregnant female. After the kittens are born, give the nursing female whatever she wants to eat. Food intake can be two to three times higher in the fourth week of lactation than before the female mated. Food intake can be increased by feeding Pro Plan moistened with water twice a day.
Switch to the Pro Plan
Although you will be excited to see what a difference Pro Plan can make to your kitten, please allow 7 to 10 days to help your kitten transition from its current diet. Simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan each day until you are eating Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help prevent nutritional upsets.
