Due to the gentle processing, wild salmon oil is significantly more stable than highly purified oils and contains the full range of valuable components of salmon oil (astaxanthin, phospholipids (also omega-3 fatty acids), vitamins, etc.) which are largely lost during refining. The content of omega-3 fatty acids, which can be up to 10 times higher than the content of omega-6 fatty acids, should be emphasised.
Its fishy taste is generally well accepted by the animals; feed munchers may need to be accustomed to the oil with small quantities. For fish lovers, the oil can become a natural attractant. The oil gets its orange colour from the shells of the crustaceans that serve as food for wild salmon. The streaky deposits and clouding come from oil-typical waxes that remain in the oil as it is not refined.
Wild salmon oil has a wide range of uses:
- It is recommended during pregnancy and puppy rearing.
- It has a positive effect on the coat and skin, for example in cases of itching or dandruff.
- Due to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, it can also have a positive effect on the metabolism, allergies and inflammatory processes, for example in the context of joint diseases.
- In addition, the omega-3 fatty acids it contains strengthen the immune system.
- Many studies have also shown that they support heart function.
There are now numerous and easily accessible studies on the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids.
