AliVet LOW PROTEIN
With a particularly high biological value and balanced nutrient components, the menus in the LOW PROTEIN line have a limited protein and moderate fat content with an increased fibre content. Copper, phosphorus and sodium are reduced. The menus ensure that the dog's calorie intake is sufficient thanks to the non-protein energy sources rapeseed oil, potatoes and the superfood coconut flour.
Vegetables and fruit containing copper have been consistently avoided, while the health herbs birch, nettle and dandelion have been added. These herbs are known for their positive effect on the liver and kidneys. Pumpkin, which is said to support kidney function, is also included. Cereals have been omitted, as the time-consuming and energy-consuming digestion of cereal components that are difficult for dogs to utilise can lead to the formation of waste products that put additional strain on the kidneys and liver.
The kidneys are not only one of the most active organs in the body, but also one of the organs with the best blood supply. They fulfil vital tasks and maintain metabolic balance. They fulfil excretory (secretion-forming), regulatory (balance-maintaining) and endocrine (hormone-producing) functions. General infections, inflammatory processes in the body, poisoning, trauma or increasing age can cause the kidneys' abilities to decline.
Diet also has a significant influence on kidney health: an excess of cereals, phosphorus and synthetics in the feed can favour and exacerbate kidney disease, as the organism is supplied with many "kidney-requiring substances" through the breakdown of these substances. Kidney-requiring means that these substances are all filtered and excreted by the kidneys, which can lead to permanent overloading of this organ.
As a result, the kidneys are more susceptible to insufficiencies and diseases. The same applies to the liver, which as a "central detoxification and storage organ" can not only store vital vitamins and minerals, but is also responsible for breaking down and metabolising many metabolic products and excreting toxic substances. The more "liver-requiring" substances are ingested, the more actively this organ has to act and can react by becoming overstressed and ill.
